The Argentine Government has sent a Note, to the United States Government Requesting that the duties on maize be waived to permit the free entry of 500,000 to 1,000,000 bushels of Argentine corn into America, states the New York Times. The note points out the importation wouldt'A>m prise on-. Jy from one to two of the United States crop, that:it’would prove the solution to the United States stringent food and grain shortage, and aid the Argentine farmer, and that in view of the present relations .of tjie two countries such concessions would pave the way for treaties of reciprocity. The Argentine Note has not yet been received at Washington, but doubt is expressed whether the Tariff Commission will consent to the proposed arrangement.
