Pease, the picturesque little Mokoia church was packed to its utmost capacity with invited guests to witness the ceremony. The, bridal group, in tones of ivory, and the pale primrose and pink floral frocks of the maids made a pretty picture in the soft night light. Following the ceremony about 100 friends were entertained at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Hawken, Mokoia.

There was a splendid attendance and following a concert programme and dancing the function was concluded with a delectable supper. Items were contributed by Mesdames Carter, Seed and T. Moss, Misses R. Mills, W. Thomas and Seed. Messrs. to supplement stock for the fancy stall (which is in,her charge) at the forthcoming band bazaar. During the afternoon' items were contributed by, Mrs. Brennan, Mrs. Drynan, Miss Ruth Mills and Miss Joyce Dix (vocal solos), Miss Kelland (violin solo), Mrs. Tozer and Miss . Spurdie (vocal duet), Miss Gwen Chadwick and Miss Winifred Shackleton (piano solos), Miss Eileen Kelson (musical monologue) and the two little .Misses Joyce.Warcup and Marie Frisk (recitations). All accompaniments were played by Miss Rogers. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent and the promoter was more than satisfied with the effort, receiving many handsome and useful articlcis for her stall. JOSEPH’S TENNIS CLUB DANCE. Notwithstanding the very dismal outlook on Wednesday evening a large crowd of dancers gathered at St. Joseph’s Hall and by 9 p.in. the scene was a very bright one. Alany beautiful frfocks were worn, and the happy trippers under a scalloping of gold and blue streamers, surrounded by festoons of manuka and native greenery brightened by occasional drapings of the club’s colours, scarlet and white, made an effective picture. A soft drink stall enclosed in a ribboned curtain of scarlet and white was a popular rendezvous while ii delightful sit-down supper catered by an energetic committee of lady helpers, was worth special mention.'
