TEACHERS’ RETIRING AGE
OBJECTION TO OTAGO PROPOSAL. NO ACTION AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 26. “Why should women teachers retire at the age of 55? I do not agree with the proposal at all,” said Mrs. E. W. Kane at a meeting of the Wellington College Board, when the proposal adopted by th> Otago Secondary Schools Board, advocating a retiring age of 65 years for male teachers and 55 years for women teachers, was received.
Members agreed that no retiring age should be fixed by the Wellington Board and decided to take no action.
