MEETING OF HAWERA PARK CLUB. The annual meeting of King Edward Park Tennis- Club, Hawera, was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. E. J. Yearbury presiding. . ® The annual report stated that members were to be congratulated on the excellent past season's tennis, notwith- , standing the unfavourable weather conditions experienced until after Christmas. . The several club teams played , nine friendly matches, winning five and 1 losing four. The games were mostly very evenly contested. The North versus” South Taranaki match was played on the park "courts, satisfaction being expressed with the arrangements made and the state of the courts. Special thanks were tendered to the ladies’ committee for thp capable manner in which refreshments were provided throughout the afternoon. “The season opened with a Yankee tournament,' while later several more were held and enjoyed by those players participating,” continued the report. “The club tournament was on a more ; extensive scale tha'n, ■. that • previously i held; in addition to the' usual events men’s championships doubles and coirij bined handicap doubles were played. Our thanks are also extended to 'the Hawera Borough' Council for the grant of the additional ground for the new courts and the financial assistance for making them suitable for play. Snowsill. e The appointment of delegates to the annual meeting of the Taranaki Association was left to the committee, and Alessrs. Beck and Yearbury were appointed delegates to the meeting to be held to consider forming a South Taranaki Sub-association. The secretary was instructed to write thanking Airs. Billows for attending to the tablecloths last season.
