FITZROY SCHOOL AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The Fitzfby School Committee met on Wednesday evening. Present: Messrs. J. A. Biirr (chairman)>L. F. Foote, H. Hall, A. .S. Hunter, R. J. Kibby and S. Quickfall. Reports w®re received fi“om the scoutmasters. It was decided to revert to Saturday night parades. Visiting committees were appointed as follbwl (the secretary to attend the first three): September 29, Mr. Quickfall; October 11, Mr. Hall; October 18, Mt. Foote; October 25, Messrs. Burr and Lyall. , The headmaster reported that the average attendance for the first two weeks of the current term was 486.7 and 495.8. Eighteen new pupils ■ were admitted and six withdrawn. The roll number was 534, while the highest attendance was 509. Attention, was drawn to the omission on the part of some parents to see that their children a coate and hats were labelled with the owner’s name, causing a great deal of unnecessary work for teachers, and often the loss of the article. The visiting committee reported on certain minor repairs necessary and drew attention to the channel in the footpath at the corner of Sackville and Barriball Streets caused by the traffic. Th© secretary was instructed to write and ask that it be asphalted. Messrs. Burr and Hawkins were appointed a visiting committee for October. The question of some improvements in the gymnasium was left to Mr. Quickfall to report on. A long discussion on the question of intermediate schools took place, and it was decided to await further information from the board.
