DAFFODILS AT ELTHAM

CHOICE BLOOMS EXHIBITED R. LEWIS AMATEUR CHAMPION. OPEN CHAMPION R. GIBSON. An exceedingly choice display of daffodils was made at the Eltham Horticultural Society’s spring show yesterday. In fact, it was considered by competent authorities to represent as good a collection as was possible by amateurs. In quality the exhibits would not be excelled at any show in New Zealand, and in comparison with •last year’s show at Eltham'it was a long way in .advance. Last year the daffodil display was considered an exj cellent one. ,~ The Taranaki 7 amathur championship and the Muir -Cup were won by R. Lewis, with the Rev. W. W. Avery run-ner-up. Iri the-open classes the Cooper Challenge Cup and the Taranaki. open championship were won by R. Gibson, with A. Chrystal- runner-up. Other daffodil championship wulnei’S. were the Rev. W., W. Avery for best bloom other thanMong trumpet; R. Lewis for the best bloom in the show and for the best long trumpet; MrS. H. Sham for the best daffodil in the novice classes; L/ Lewis for childien under 16; and C< Foreman for children under 14. By, his win L, Lewis also obtained the Marchant bowl. The championship challenge bowl, redonated by Mr.. A.'Chrystal, for the best daffodil bloom, was won by R. Lewis. The trophy 1 for the best long trumpet was also won by R- Lewis. The Rev. W. W. ■’Avery won the trophy for the best bloom other than a long trumpet. R.
