Prosecuted by Sir Thomas Lucy, lie took refuge in London and so made hts ws first acquaintance with the ‘‘Playhouse," joining a theatrical company called “The Lord Chamberlain’s Men.” He wrote plays for them in which he acted. The Company was ultimately called The King’s Men,” each player ranking as a groom of the Chamber of King James I.
