It was picked up by window cleaners, Joseph McCrohan and Robert William Wallace. Despite the fact that it contained a driving license with the owner’s name and address they made no attempt to return it to the owner, even though the loss was advertised, but instead attempted to sell a ring to dealers. They thus found themselves in court to answer a charge of theft involving a total value for the bag and contents of £3l. Each’ was lined £lO and ordered to make good the loss of £1 5s and repay the dealer £l.
