There is increasing evidence in many parts of the country of a revolt against the Congress ‘'domination”’ arid of cupport to the Government in combating civil disobediences. Even those who formerly supported Congress are now realisirfg the folly of carrying on a campaign which, in addition to ruining the country, is producing lawlessness and an inevitable result —anarchy. The recent bomb and shootin* outrages have created a wave of indignation and support to the Government is gaining momentum. In the village of Khanpur, in the United Provinces, a crowd of angry loyalists rallied to the aid of some police when Congress volunteers attempted to rescue two of their number, and attacked the Congressmen. Thirty were injured in the ensuing fi"ht. The civil disobedience movementjwill result in a grave financial position in the Bombay Presidency in the coming . vear, says an olficial communique, which points out that the Budget estimates for the current year, which contemplated a surplus of . J 1 ! 1 ® been converted into a deficit of £037,000. In the .Northern Presidency, where the civil dieobedience movement against the payment of land revenue was first organised, £41,250 is unpaid.
