NATIONAL EXHIBITION MEET. PLACING OF NEW ZEALANDERS. By Telegraph—Press Asisn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, Aug. 30. The Canadian National Exhibition athletic meet was held at Toronto today. In the . twelve iniles_ modified Marathon, Arnold Webster '(Hamilton) was first. J. W. Savidan (New Zealand) led most of the way, going to the front at the one-third mark. Webster came from behind at the last half-mile to beat Savidan by 50 yards. The time was Ihr. 9min. 32 3-ssec. The 100 yards resulted: Simpson (United States) 1, Tohm (United States) 2, Elliott (New Zealand) 3. Time, 9 7-10 sec. ' Special invitation 120 yards hurdles:' Johnny.'Morriss (United States) 1, Arthur Ravensdale (Ontario) 2. Lord Burghley finished second, but was disqualified for knocking down three hurdles and Ravensdale was placed second. Time, 14"7-10sec. , 440 yards o'pen: Golding. (Australia) 1, Pomeroy (Los Angeles) 2, Baseombe (Australia) 3. Time, 47 9-10scc. One mile open handicap: Eddie King (Hamilton) 1, Whyte (Australia) 2, Hillhouse (Australia) 3. Whyte was three yards behind King. Time, 4min. 18 4-s'sec.
220 yards open: Simpson 1, Tolari 2, Elliott" 3. Time, 20 9-10 sec., a new Canadian record.
