TWO-YEAR OLD PARADE

EASTER TIME WINS BRILLIANTLY (By “Moturoa.”) One of. the most interesting features of the Taranaki Hunt Club’s race programme on Saturday was the two-year-old parade ? in which- eight two-year-olds and two- older maidens scampered down the straight from the two furlong post. It was' unfortunate, how : ever, that a part of. the barrier failed to rise and the start wws- badly spoilt. Nevertheless several of the youngsters showed a nice turn of speed, while others the impression that they would be seen to more advantage later in the season. ; Hampdes began smartly froin the middle of /the field, while Gibraltar dwelt and Forceful, Sparkling Morn and Cornerman Were hung up by .the;-tapes. Hampdes Veil clear at the distance, but Eastertime, who did not begin too well, finished’brilliantly to win, by a narrow margin. . Summertime ypas always in a < good position and ran on ijicely into third place a‘couple ;of lengths further back. Then there was a break to Tangiroa. Cornerman, Sparkling Morn and Gibraltar, who . were bunched.' The distance, covered was. slightly over two furlongs, and several watches 'timed Eastertime to run the djstapce jn 29sec. The starters were:— EASTERTIME, Mrs. W. D. Graham’s b.g. by Illumination--Gamboling (CL-J. Gpulsbro) ........... 1 HAMPDES, Mr. F. Bristol’s b.c., by , Tea Tray—Kilcalm (K. Grylls) 2 SUMMERTIME,. -Mr. F.< Bristol’s ‘ ' b.f., by IGraridcourt—Very Hot (B. H.’ Morris) '. 3 ? Also ' .started—Tangiroa (T. Tito), Cornerman (M. ,J. ’Pine).- Sparkling. Morn (H. 'N:. .Wiggins)., Gibraltar (H. Gray),' Forceful -(T. Green), Goldfinder (B. Fiower),'and-Green Patch. Of the beaten lot nothing pleased more than Cornerman f and Sparkling Morn, while Forceful appeared to be a trifle backward. . -■ y'■ STRATFORD RACING CLUB. APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES.
