COMMITTEE HEARS EVIDENCE.. By Telegraph.—Press 'Association, Wellington,' Hast Night. Further evidence was taken to-day before' the Industries and Cbriimereb Committee of the House with regard to the marketing of fruit and vegetables. One witness was Mr. Staley, secretary of the Auckland retail fruiterers, who testified with regard to dishonest packing and supported grading and standardisation. Questioned with regard to the Chinese hold on retailing, he said the Chinese standard of living was much lower than the white man’s, and so the Chinese were at an advantage.
