SEAMEN’S REST APPEAL
SUCCESSFUL MART CONDUCTED. An appeal for funds to maintain the Seamen’s Rest at New Plymouth, was made by the Women’s Christian Temperature Union at a mart held in the Whiteley hall yesterday afternoon and as the result, of the- efforts a useful sum was raised. Miss Drew, president of the union, was convenor of the ladies’ committee. The mart was well stocked and attractively set out. The stalls and stallholders were: Meat and produce, Mrs. Gilbert, Mrs. C. Berg, Mrs. R. Hawkins and Mrs. Loveridge; work, Miss R. O. King and Mrs. Douglas; cakes, Mrs. Dickson, Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Valentine; flowers, Mrs. G. H. White and Mrs., Batey; .white elephant, Mrs. .Kibby; sweets, Miss. Sykes .and Mrs, Reid; afternoon, tea, Mrs, \Vells, Mrs,. Linn and Mrs. Malcolm.
