TARANAKI LAND BOARD

ALLOCATION OF SECTIONS. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board commenced on Wednesday and concluded yesterday, there being present Messrs. W. D. Armit (chairman), C. J. Ryan, H. A. Foreman and N. R. Cleland. Several applications for land were dealt with and the undermentioned sections were allotted to the applicants shewrt:—Section 21, Block IV., Huiroa Survey District, M. T. French; Pt. Allot. 10. Pt. Section 28, Waitara West, A. C. McGregor; Pt. Sections 1 and 3, Huateki Settlement, T. A. Johns; Section 11, Huatoki Settlement, R. Fraser; Section 15, Huatoki Settlement, Mrs. A. Gifford; Section 5, Block VIII., Totoro, A. B. Robbie; Section 3, Block 111., Rangi, A. J. Campbell, and Mr. W. Webb’s tender for the lease of Pt. Sections 2 and 11, Block VIII., Opaku, was accepted. Applications for Sections 18 and 19, Block 11., Ngatimaru, were deferred.

The question of granting further relief by way of exemption from rent on 13 leases is under consideration, and of applications for reduction in rental charges, one was declined and one recommended.

Three- applications for postponements or remission were recommended and two declined.

Renewals of Education Reserve Leases were dealt with and. in 11 instances the lessees are being offered renewals on certain terms.

Application by L. and E. A. Anderson for an extension of their O.R.P. license was recommended.

An offer for the purchase of timber on Section 4, Block 1-, Piopiotea West Survey district, was declined.

In five instances Crown tenants were gianted permission to encumber their holdings and seven lessees were granted temporary exemption from residence for various reasons.

Two applications for readjustment of mortgages were recommended.

Nine applications for financial assistance by discharged soldiers were considered, Two were refused, two approved and five recommended.

In the case of an application for an advance under the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1929, the Land Board had no recommendation to make.

Six applications to transfer were recommended and five approved;

Thirty-four other cases dealing with miscellaneous items were also dealt with and the board rose at 3.39 p.m.
