LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION
APPEAL FOR MEMBERSHIP.
NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH MEETS. The second annual meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the League of Nations Union was held last night, the Mayor, Mr. H. V. 8. Griffiths, presiding over a good attendance. Mr. M. Goldsbury, vice-president of the New Plymouth branch, explained that through the unavoidable absence of the Mayor at the last meeting of the executive he had been deputed to prepare the annual report. The report as published in the News on Wednesday, and the balance-sheet were read and adopted. Mr. Goldsbury appealed for increased membership. Other union centres in New Zealand were growing and there was no reason why New Plymouth should not increase its membership, he said. The aims of the union were the finest and its objects worthy of support. It was decided to close the financial year on June 30. Officers were elected as follow: Patron. Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths; president, Mr. M. Goldsbury; vice-presidents, Misses Drew and Penn and Archdeacon Evans; council, Mesdames H. E. Ayckbourne, Reed, the Rev. J. D. McL. Wilson and the Rev. C. Eaton, Messrs. Gilliver and Crompton-Smith; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr. S. Richards.
