NORTH TARANAKI ASSOCIATION
The annual meeting of the North, Taranaki Motor Trade Association was held at New Plymouth last night, the 70 present including Messrs E. J. M. Ferguson, J. F. Cousins (general secietarv of the New Zealand Association), R. V. McDowell (Shell Company) and G. R. A. Whiting (retiring inspector of labour). Mr. Ferguson was re-elected president. . : It was unanimously decided to invite the New Zealand Association to hold its annual conference at New Plymouth in 1931. Mr. Cousins gave a resume of recent events with regard to petrol taxation and the motor trade generally. Apart from the business the meeting was a very enjoyable social function. Toasts honoured included: The New Zealand Motor Trade, proposed by Mr. Ferguson and responded to by Mr, Cousins, the Retiring Inspector of Labour (Mr. P. E. Stainton—Mr. Whiting), Our Guest (Mr. R. C. Stanton—Mr. McDowell). The toast list was interspersed with enjoyable musical items by Messrs A, Slinger, F. Baird, K. Ward, Mr. Ward playing the accompanimente. Community singing was led by Mr. Stainton.
