FREEZING INDUSTRY COSTS
WAGE REDUCTION SUGGESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 28. A large and representative meeting yesterday, comprising representatives of the Meat Producers’ Board, the Sheep-owners’ Federation, the Farmers’ Union, North and South Island freezing companies’ associations and casing companies, discussed the serious position of the sto k-raising and freezing industries, due > the heavy fall in the value of meat and by-products. The following resolution was unanimously passed: —“That owing to the serious fall In the value of meat and
by-products it is essential that the coats of working in the freezing industry be reduced. This meeting in, the.’efore, of the opinion that freezing companies should approach the Arbitration Court for a substantial reduction in the rates paid and for the abolition of restrictions which hinder- the economical working of various department, thereby reducring efficiency.”
