Mr. “Jimmy” Bourke, Whenuakura, who has been in the Patea hospital for some time, died on Wednesday morning. Miss F. ADDRESS ON POULTRY-REARING. AUROA WOMEN’S DIVISION. Messrs. G. L, Gaylard and J. C. Smith, Hawera, on Wednesday afternoon addressed a very large gathering at the Auroa Women’s Division branch on poultry-rearing and the rules for joining an egg circle. Numbers of Awatuna members were present and many boy enthusiasts were in attendance. Tho president, Mrs. Benton, introduced the speakers, after which Misses Vera King and Flora Duff pinned a buttonhole on each. Mr. Gaylard detailed the correct care and feeding necessary for poultry from the day-old chick to the matured bird, tho precautions to be taken when setting eggs and the correct nests to make. The management of ducks was explained. Mr. Smith recounted the working of tho egg circle; Proper organisation and co-cperation would enable poultry farmers to procure their fowl foods more cheaply and so increase the profits from egg production. The dairy industry had been built by co-operation and the same method applied to the successful growth of the poultry industry.
