INJURY IN MOTOR SMASH
COURT AWARDS £1282 DAMAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Aug. 28. General damages £9OO and special damages £382 -were awarded William Styles, aged 29 years, in the Supreme Court in a claim arising out of Jin accident on the Mamaku-Rotorua highway on January 25, 1929, when he was knocked off a motor-cycle by a service car driven by Harold Bates. Plaintiff was seriously injured and his machine damaged. Prior to Hie collision plaintiff was employed as a. henchman, but as the result of the injuries he received he was unable to work until April, 1930. He thereby lost wages amounting to £-120. Since March he had been able to work as a casual employee only. Plaintiff’s injuries consisted of compound fractures of the right leg above and below the knee, also injuries to the right ankle, which had permanently shortened the leg by an inch and stiffened the ankle. He was incapable now of working as a henchman. Special damages totalling £7Ol 5s and £l5OO general damages were claimed.
