Mr. and Mrs. W. Durham, Wellington, and Mrs. W. R. Smith, Wellington, are staying at the Criterion, New Plymouth. The death of Mr. Robert Neill, grain merchant, a New Zealand representative cricketer against the Australians in 1896, is reported in a Press Association message.
Wing-Commander Grant-Dalton is visiting New Plymouth. He was met at Hawera yesterday by Flying Officer lan Keith and conveyed to New Plymouth in one of the Federation’s Moth aeroplanes. A Montreal message reports the death of Mr. Percy Fisher, vice-president of the English Amateur Athletic Association. His death occurred in hospital from sleeping sickness. He became sick while crossing the Atlantic to attend the Empire Games. The appointment of Mr. Duncan MacKay, Ohura, as senior instructor in agriculture for the Taranaki Education Board, has been approved by the Education Department, stated the Hon. S. G. Smith in a telegram to the board’s secretary, Mr. H. W. Insull, last night. Mr. Mac Kay takes the place of Mr. R. G. Ridling, who resigned to take an appointment at Wellington.
