August 27—Arrived: Kanna (8 a.m.), from Westport;- Veronica (9 a.m.), from Suva. Sailed: Corinthie (5.20 p.m.), for London;- Argyllshire (5.35 p.m.), for London. As it is not possible to conduct the seamen’s rest at New Plymouth any longer without an annual appeal to the public, a mart has been arranged for to-morrow. The mart will open in Whiteley Hall at 10 a.m., and a remarkable range of bargains and novelties is offered.
