HALF-YEARLY DISTRICT MEETING. The half yearly district delegate meeting of the Taranaki Foresters was held in the town hall, Patea, on Tuesday, when there was a large gathering present, including the following officers: — D.C.R. Bro. G. H. Were, D.S.C.R. Bro. A. J. Gyde, D.W. Bro. H. E. Williams, D.B. Bro. E. D. Tate, D.T. Bro. A. J. Way, D.S. Bro. A. J. Tunbridge. There were also the following delegates present: Court Taranaki, Bro. R. A. Wall; Court Waireka, Bros. J. E. Cameron and W. H. Quickfall; Court Stratford, Bro. R. E. J. Kivcll (secretary); Court Inglewood x'orest, Bros. R. Fawcett, P.D.C.R., and E. Crossman, P.C.R.; Court Raleigh, Ero. E. R. Harford; Court Egmont, Bro. T. C. Hobbs; Court Patea, Bro. H. Cocker; Court Pride of Eltham, Bro. J. Mitchell; Court Opunake, Bro. J. D. Muriay; Court Pride of New Plymouth, Sister M. Tunbridge, P.C.R. The following visitors were present: Sister E. Kilpatrick, Bros. Fieldes and Braund (New Plymouth), Bro. Plews (Stratford), Bros. Moore and Mercer (Patea). The district half-yearly balance-sheet was thoroughly discussed. In moving its adoption Bro. Kivcll spoke of the satisfactory position disclosed. The juvenile balance-sheet brought forth favourable comments by several speakers. The half yearly report of the executive stated that it was of the opinion tliat all courts in the district were progressing favourably, both in membership and funds. The total value of the district and courts funds at December 31, 1929, was £67,429 18s 7d, this being an increase of £3374 Ils 6d on the previous year’s. In the membership for the year there was an increase of 79. During the past six months the bene- ■ volent fund had disbursed £37 2s Id, contributions being £l6 Is Id and donations £2l Is.

Afer some delay and alterations, the amendment of rules providing that each court in the district carry its own funeral liabilities had been registered on June 7 and on June 14 £1660 was distributed among those courts that were entitled to money, the funeral fund to be liquidated as soon as the amounts were received.

Last delegate meeting had requested a report with regard to Court Opunake. The report showed that it would be advisable to provide a scheme whereby this court could be materially improved 'both numerically—and financially- as it Lad remained stararonary so many years.

The question was referred to the friendly societies department fox' considera-

tion and advice.

At the luncheon adjournment a toast was drunk to the health of Bro. C. E. Hamerton, secretary Of' Court Patea, who was unavoidably absent, and on the resumption of business hearty thanks were extended Court Patea for its reception to the delegates. Bro. Wall asked whether any member out of employment for any length of time w r as able to participate in the benevolent fund to pay or keep paid his subscriptions to his court during his unemployment. The chief ranger replied, in the affirmative, providing the case, was genuine, but unfortunately he knew of cases where the merriber had failed to make application to his court.

The election of the district officers for the next term resulted: —D.C.R., Bro. A. Gyde; D.S.C.R., Bro. H. E. Williams; DAV., Bro. E. D. Tate; D. 8., Bros. J. E. Cameron and A. R. Wall.
