URENUI FANCY DRESS BALL
SU<'CKSSFUL CHURCH FUNCTION. A brilliantly successful function, the L'renui Church of England fancy dress ball, was held last night. Gaily dressed dancers flaunted their carnival attire under the striking decorations of the hall. People came from a wide district and joined happily in the crowd that thronged the hall. Arrangements were excellent and were a tribute to the energetic committee of church women (organised by Mrs. G. A. Pigott), who had prepared the hall and the supper. The hall was hung with yellow, green and golden streamers which were woven into arttistic patterns. A delicate oblong lattice of ribbons swung in the centre and was flanked at either end by two tall pyramids of streamers whose apices receded into the ceiling. The supper room was decorated with another pretty cone of curveting streamers. From the roof broad clusters of golden wattle hung like great pendant candelabra. Reposing within the bunches of wattle were numerous yellow daffodils. Boulton’s dance band played lilting music to which it was a pleasure to dance. The prizewinners were as follow, the presentations being made by Archdeacon Gavin: —Fancy dress: Mr. IV. Smith (Old Bill); Mrs. Weeden -(Devonshire cottage,) 1, Miss E.
