TRANSFUSIONS OF BLOOD
WELLINGTON SERVICE URGED LONDON SYSTEM RECOMMENDED. •'•LIKE PHONING BAKER FOR TZJAF" By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 27. An appeal for the inauguration of a blood transfusion service in Wellington was made by Dr. A. lennant m an address under the auspices of the British Red Cross Society last night. Dr. Tennant referred to the service in London, where it is possible at a moment’s notice, to get in touch with donors of blood. Boy Scouts Girl Guides, Toe 11, the Y.M.C.A., and other or-raiihsationg were rendering valuable services. All a doctor had to do was to telephone the Red Cross Society, inform it of his requirements, and a few minutes later transfusion was taking service in London," he said, '•has developed to such an extent that it is just like ringing the baker and ordering a loaf of bread. - ’ He could not say how many blood transfusions occurred every month in Wellington, .but he commended to the local Red Cross Society the suggestion that a similar service to that in England be instituted here. In his opinion there was need for it.
