FOREIGN LEGION MUTINY

AUCKLAND MAN’S OPINIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, August 26. In reference to the London cable regarding the Foreign Legion mutiny an Auckland resident, who was in the Legion 16 years ago, said the mutiny might be caused by lack of water or food,, too much continued active service or, perhaps, the “caffard,” the madness brought on by heat and monotony. It seemed to him that the mutiny report was exaggerated; for it was unlikely that a whole battalion would mutiny. Since the war there had been a large influx of Russians and possibly Sovietpropaganda had something to do with it.
