NEW PLYMOUTH AERO CLUB
I TRAINING PROCEEDING APACE. ' -MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE. The executive committee of the New Plymouth. Aej’o Club .met last night, Mr. G. M. Spence presiding. There were also present. Messrs. P, J..Flannagan, C. Clarke, C. Hannan, A. F. Sanford, S. E. Nielson (secretary)' and Flying Officer lan Keith. Mr. Spence stated that the New Zeai land Aero Club and the Western Federated (N. 1. Flying Club had both been officially incorporated since the last meeting of the executive. Reports from Flying Officer lan Keith, which have already been published, in the News, were read. In spite of bad weather training has been proceeding apace, and four more pupils will be ready to fly solo very soon. Members considered the reports most satisfactory. A circular was received from the Civil Aviation Department of the Defence Office containing a full list of certified A and B pilots at present in New Zealand. The Lucky Star Art Union organised with’the object of developing aviation in Wanganui and New Plymouth is to be launched on September 20, all the necessary arrangement having been completed. 'The committee comprising New Plymouth and Wanganui aero club executive members meets in Hawera on Friday afternoon to finalise matters, The executive - wished Mi< P.'J. .Elannagan;.who leaves shortly for Sydney, a good trip and a pleasant time while there.' ■■lt was decided to communicate with aero clubs there and inform them that Mr. Flannagan was a member of the executive of the New Plymouth Aero Club. The clubs would probably provide Mr. Flannagan with useful information which he eould bring back to New Plymouth.
Donations of ,C 5 were received from the Shell, Atlantic and Vacuum Oil Companies with wishes for success and appreciation of the good work already done. The annual meeting of the club is to bo held on September 9 and the hope was expressed for a full .-.ttencance of members and others interested in the welfare of the club.
