EMPIRE ATHLETES TOUR
: WARM RECEPTION IN .CANADA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Aug. 26. In a letter to Mr. Amos three weeks prior to the opening of the Empire Games Mr. Hobbs, manager of the New Zealand team, gives interesting details of the trip across Canada. They travelled with the Australian team, and everywhere both were* welcomed with enthusiasm. They did not,go,out rowing at Vancouver as Ayers and Brough thought that one row in a foreign boat would not do any good. On arrival at Toronto they were met by Mr. Collins, the New Zealand trade commissioner, and Professor Louden, the president of the Canadian Amateur Athletics Associations, and at Hamilton by Mr. Robinson, one of the principal officials of the Empire Games, who was representing the New Zealand A.A.A. in Canada.
