Serious disputes threatened to disrupt the Empire Games to-day. With the scullers’ nerves badly on edge owing to the postponement of the races through bad weather, attempts officially to switch to other courses did not meet with general satisfaction. It was rumoured that some of the contestants, possibly English and various Canadian entrants, would withdraw, even though the Burlingham course, a few miles from the city, had been definitely fixed. To-night another dispute arose in the Century Dash, which Williams won. The starter, Mr. E. J. Holt, England, ordered Elliott (New Zealand) out of the race after a second false break. The crowd jeered, and the heat was delayed for five minutes and Elliott was restored to his mark.

The wrestling finals resulted: — Welterweight: Priestley (Canada) defeated Johnson (England).

Light heavyweight: Mclntyre (Canada) defeated Bacon (England). The results of the boxing finals are: Flyweight: Smith (South Africa) defeated Pardoe (England). Bantamweight; Nizler (England) defeated Kellar (Canada). Lightweight: Rolland (Scotland) defeated Canzan (Canada). Heavyweight: Stuart (England) defeated Skimming (Canada) on a technical knock-out.

In the first heat of ■ the -140 yards Goldiim (Australia) was first. Qualifiers for the 120 yards high hurdles were: Viljoen (South Africa), Lord Burghley (England), Hart (South Africa), Davies (South Africa), Gaby (England), Harper (England). The fastest time (14 7-10 sec.) was established by Davies. It is a Canadian record. Lord Burghley was second to Viljoen. Pearce rowed up and down the course after- the race, when his comment was: “I am very pleased to have won it. The victory was worth the long journey.’’
