ATTEMPT TO DEFRAUD BANK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. In the Supreme Court to-day Edgar Arthur Barbarel was found guilty of attempting to obtain from the Post Office Savings Bank £lO by means of a forged withdrawal slip. He was remanded till to-morrow for sentence. August John Barberel, brother of the accused, allegedly stole his father-in-law’s post office bank book, and when the father-in-law discovered the theft he found also that £220 had been withdrawn from his account. The Crown ease against Edgar Barberel was that he attempted to cash a slip forged allegedly by August 'Barberel.
