CHARGE OF THEFT LAID. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. At Takaka Francis Thomas Edward Bird w’as charged that on or about December, 1928, or on divers dates up to December 30,’1929, at Takaka, he did receive sums of money amounting to £69 on account of the Golden Bay Cement Company’s Employees’ Industrial Union and fail to account for the same, thereby committing theft. Accused pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
