AVIATION IN WELLINGTON
NEW FLYING GROUND -SOUGHT. • Fiy Ttf’?sraph;— Press Association. • Wellington, Aug. 20. The possibility, of the Wellington Aero Club securing Scabey Island asi a flying ground arises as the result of a request made *to the Hutt River Board. Scabey Island is situated at the mouth of the Hutt River on the sea side of the new Seaview Road. Should the ground be leased to the club, the club will proceed with extensive work in levelling and forming the ground and building retaining walls, hangars,, etc. The whole amount of the expenditure necessary is estimated to run into a large sum.
The River Board decided to inform the club that the board is in a position to lease and requested further details of the club’s proposals.
