UNITED STATES’ OPINION. ULTIMATE RECOVERY CERTAIN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7.25 p.m. New York, Aug. 20. The New York Times, in a leader headed “Australian Finances,” states “the. conferences continue to point to the financial embarrassment of the Commonwealth. Obviously something will have to be done. Mr. Scullin, the Prime Minister, has struck out for increased revenue, which is held not to improve the outlook, although it is evident emergency measures must be invoked. “There can Ire no doubt about Australia’s ultimate recovery. She has great natural resources and her people are confident. They realise they have been extravagant but are ready to face and conquer their difficulties with courage and intelligence.”
