BEEF PRICES IMPROVED.

FAT SHEEP RATHER DEARER. Auckland, Last Night. The Westfield fat stock sale was held, to-day. Cattle—Ox beef was offered in average numbers. There was a strong demand and the previous week’s rates were improved upon. No extra heavy bullocks were yarded. Prime heavy bullocks realised £l5 2s 6d to £l5 • 10s, lighter prime £l4 5s to £l5, light prime £l3 15s to £H 2s 6(1, small and unfinished £ll 10s to £l3 12s Cd. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in average num-, hers and sold under steady demand at values better than the previous week. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers realised £l2 to £l3 7s 6d, heavy prime £lO 10s to £ll 15s, lighter prime £9 5s to £lO 7s 6d, lighter sorts £8 2s 6d to £O, other killable', cows £5 5s . to £7 ss. Extra choice ox beef sold to 41s per 1001 b, choice and prime 38s to 40s, just killable 35s to 375, prune young cow and heifer 36s to 38s, just killable 26s to 345. Sheep.—The yarding was larger than the previous week and comprised an average entry. Competition was steady: and the previous week’s values were slightly improved upon.
