recommendation' to be made. An adjourned sitting of the Conciliation Council was held at New Plymouth on Tuesday morning under the presidency of Mr. P. Hally, Commissioner, to consider the application of th. 6 Taranaki Master. Butchers’ Association for a new award. The assessors were: For the employers, Messrs W. Barraclough, F. A. Reesby and J. S. Wilson, with Mr. W. Power as agent, and for the employees, Messrs A. Hopkins and A. W. Croskery, with Mr. R. Fulton. ■ After considerable discussion between the parties a complete recommendation of agreement was reached. This includes a slight increase of wages for one class of workers. An arrangement was also agreed to whereby an em-ployer-may work his staff an optional set of hours. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Court of Arbitration for the. embodiment of the new conditions in an . award of the court at its coming session in New Plymouth. To-day another sitting will be held to consider a-dispute filed by the Taranaki Grocers’ Assistants’ Union for a revision of the existing award.
