The, Gabriella will load at Newcastle early next week and complete at Sydney for Wellington, New Plymouth and Wanganui.

DELAYS AT NAURU. The cost of Nauru Island phosphates is considerably increased owing to the long delay .experienced by steamers loading at the island. There is no sheltered harbour and steamers have to load at a mooring buoy anchored in very deep water and exposed to the heavy ocean swell. During stormy weather, and when, the swell is severe,- the . loading steamer has to le'ave the mooring and put to sea until the conditions improve. Th© -steamer Lady Lewis, which- reached Auckland from Nauru on Tuesday with 7600 tons of phosphates, was delayed at the island for three weeks before the cargo was loaded. The actual time taken to load the. cargo was only .- five days, but the loading operations .were spread over 18 day A owjng' to the steamer having to repeatedly leave the mooring Decause the sea was toe rough for the work to continue. Only one vessel can load at a time, and when the Lady Lewis left for Auckland there were flve’feteam-. ers drif ting, off the island awaiting, their turn 5 IdTohlL' '" 5 ' ' ’
