ENORMOUS CREDIT WASTE
DISCUSSION BY CONFERENCE THE SYSTEM VERY MUCH ABUSED. SUGGESTION FOR THE SCHOOLS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Delegates from creditors’ associations throughout New Zealand met in conference (the first of its kind) at Hastings to-day. The Mayor, Mr. G. F. Roach, welcomed delegates and expressed the hope that their deliberations would achieve something- in the matter of controlling credit. The enormous waste of credit in New Zealand was to be deplored, and if the conference resulted in controlling losses by credit much benefit to the country would accrue. The chairman of the conference, Mr. R. Loach, said credit business had been much, abused. He suggested children in the schools should be taught to honour their trust —only another word for credit. Twelve hundred credit giVers are represented at the conference, which is continuing in committee.
