WOMAN KILLED IN STREET

KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAM-CAR. By Telecruph.— -Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Following what appeared to be a minor accident in Maxham Avenue shortly before 9 o’clock on Monday night Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Daly died at her sisteFs residence, 17 Stoke Street, Newtown, thia morning,. Mrs. Daly left her son’s confectionery store in the business section of Moxham Avenue about a quarter to nine and walked across the road, intending to catch a tram. At that moment a Miramar car was pulling up at the stop. It struck Mrs. Daly and she fell to the ground, striking her head on the road. • Mrs. Daly was conscious when picked up and at first it was not thought that she was injured. It was subsequently discovered that she had suffered a fracture at the base of the skull. After being attended by doctors she was taken by ambulance to the home of her sister, Mrs.. J. O. Hand. Towards midnight her condition, became worse and she died between 3 and 4 o’clock. Mrs. Daly was a widow bo years of age.
