The Hon. Mr. Justice Ostler is expected to preside over the next session of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth, which opens on Monday morning. At the recent written examination of the Royal Academy of Music Miss Mary Crawshaw, Now Plymouth, completed her final qualification for L.A.8., obtaining 134 out of a possible 150. Mr. 11. M. Caselberg, well-known in military circles, and who for some years has been auctioneer and stock agent for the Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Dannevirke, has ac-cepted-a position as manager of the stock department of the Farmers’ Cooperative Organisation Society of New Zealand, with headquarters at Hawera.

The death has occurred at Taumarunui of Mr. George Frederick Thompson, aged 52 years. Mr. Thompson was born at Nottingham, England, and came to Now Zealand in 1911. He entered into partnership in the plumbing business at Ohura with his brother, and after residing at Ohura for about two years went to Taumarunui and entered business on his own account. He was first elected a member of the Taumarunui Borough Council in 1915, and served until 1918. lie was again elected in 1921, and remained in office until 1923. He next served on the council from 1927 to 1929. During his last term he acted as chairman of the works committee. Mr. Thompson was one of the foundation members of the Pioneer Association, a past master of the Masonio Lodge, and at the time of his death was secretary, of the lodge. He leaves a widow and four daughters.
