(Hooker Bros.) LADY LEWIS ON MONDAY: The steamer Lady Lewis arrived at Auckland from Nauru Island yesterday with a full cargo of phosphates. She will unload a quantity of the cargo at Auckland, and the remainder at £{ew Plymouth on Monday. REMUERA TO-MORROW. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner is due at New Plymouth to-mor-row at daylight to load 13,000 freight carcases of meat and to discharge 1400 tons of London cargo. From New Plymouth the vessel proceeds to Port Chalmers, Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington, from which latter port she sails on August 29 for Southampton and London, via Panama Canal. WESTMORELAND CLEARS COLON. The Federal Line steamer Westmoreland is reported to have cleared Colon last Saturday in continuation of her voyage from Wellington to London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow. She sailed from Wellington on July 23, carrying 12,500'freight carcases of meat, 8311 boxes of butter and 7134 crates of cheese loaded at New Plymouth during the last week in June. ARGYLLSHIRE AT WELLINGTON. To continue her Homeward loading, the Federal steamer Argyllshire left Lyttelton on Monday night for Wellington, where she arrived yesterday. The Argyllshire is to leave again on Thursday for Napier, Gisborne, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland to fill up, and is scheduled to clear the northern port on August 25 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. The vessel carries 12,000 freight carcases of meat from New Plymouth. WAIHEMO DOCKS. The Waihemo was to go into dock at Auckland yesterday morning for cleaning and painting and inspection, in connection with her overhaul and survey. The vessel will be recommissioned this week, and she is to be dispatched for for Vancouver on Saturday to load at Pacific Coast ports foi’ New Zealand ports, including New Plymouth.

The officers and crew of the British In'dia Line steamer Nowshera, of 7920 tons, which reached Outer Harbour, Adelaide, on June 21, had a terrifying experience on the voyage from Cape Town. For two days in the middle of the Indian Ocean the vessel was swept by waves 40 feet higffi The steamer battled against head winds and rough weather all the way from Cape Town. So violently was the vessel pounded that she was hove-to, and then for 36 hours was driven out of her course for about 80 miles. A lifeboat was badly damaged, and portion of the bridge was washed away. Two windows of the wheelhouse were smashed.
