LAMBETH CONFERENCE ENDS

BISHOPS TO ISSUE ENCYCLICAL. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, August 10. The Lambeth Conference has closed. An encyclical letter will be issued embodying the conclusions. The Archbishop of York at the final session expressed gratitude to the Archbishop of Canterbury for presiding for five weeks. It was intimated that the 300 bishops present desired to present a pastoral stall for the use of the Archbishop in the diocese of Canterbury. The special representative of the Morning Post says that although efforts were made by a minority of bishops to secure a pronouncement on the subject of birth control it is unlikely that more than a passing reference will appear in the encyclical, to the effect that the extent of the practice among church people is practically so small as not to call for notiea.
