OPERATION AT A PROFIT

PRODUCERS’ FREEZING WORKS. TARANAKI BUTTER .AND CHEESE A profit of £l4l 4s 4d is shown in the profit and loss account of the Taranaki Producers’ Freezing Works pany, Limited, for the year ended on June 3'o last. On July 1, 192'9, the account showed a credit balance of £167 13s Id, and after £5O from this amount had been appropriated at the annual meeting the sum of £57 3s Id remained. The receipts during the year amounted to £15,749 16s 6d,. making the total sum available £15,907 9e 7d, and the outgoings, including the substantial amount written ~off for depreciation, were less than this total by £l4l 4s 4d. The report of the directors, to be presented to the general meeting of •shareholders in the Y.W.C.A. Hall,’ New Plymouth, on Friday, August 29, at 1.30 p.m., states: — We commenced the season with a balance in store of 6835 boxes of butter and 3804 crates of cheese. Of butter there were ■ received during the year 316,042 boxes, being an increase on the previous year of 73,816 boxes. There were shipped overseas 297,734 boxes (285,762 to London, 10,737 to West of England, and 1235 to Canada), and 3661 boxes were disposed of within the Dominion, leaving in store on June 30, 1930, 21,482 boxes.

Of cheese there were received during the twelve months 237,869 crates, being a decrease of 4824 below the previous year’s quantity. There were shipped overseas 214,336 crates (192,861 to London,' and 21,475 to West of England), and 358 crates were disposed of locally, leaving in store on June 30, 1930, 26,979. Of the total cheese received, 94,504 crates were full-cream, 143,106 standardised, and 259 were modified. During the year the cheese store has been enlarged by the addition of a three-storey section giving insulated accommodation in two storeys for 17,500 crates of cheese.

You are required to elect two directors. in place of Messrs J. S. Connett and H. M. Purdie, who retire in rotation, and are eligible for re-election; and you are also required to appoint an auditor, for which position Mr. C. H. Wynyard again offers his services. 1
