• Eltham juniors defeated Strafford B by 8 goalo to nil in a hockey match on Thursday. The Eltham A ladies’ hockey team has a remarkable record ’ this season. The team has won all ten games played, scoring 38 goals and having only six scored against it. The ■ prizewinners at the Eltham Anglican Church euchre party on Thursday were as follows: —-First ladies prize, Mios I. Thomas; second, ■ Mis. D. May; third, Mrs.- Morton. First men’s prize, Mr. E. Clare; second, Mr. E. Thompson; third, Mr. G.-Prentice. The vicar expressed thanks to the organisers and the donors of the prizes, and stated that- the next euchre party would be the final one. The Eltham Fire Brigade will hold its annual ball on Friday next, when a good time is in store for patrons. Henderson’s orchestra has been engaged and decorations, floor and supper will be of the test. - ‘ A large shed owned by Mr.. T. S. Gedge, Pembroke Road-, was destroyed by fire at 4 a.m. yesterday. The alarm was given by Mr. P. Freeman, who sleeps in the shed and who was awakened by the smoke and had a narrow escape. The brigade was promptly on the scene but the fire was so far advanced that nothing could be done. The shed was insured for a small amount and a car that was burnt with it was insured for £l5O.
