DEATH OF MR. E. ERNEST OLSON. (From Our Own Correspondent.) After a short illness, the death occurred in the New Plymouth hospital on Thursday afternoon of Mr. Ernest Olson, a highly-respected citizen of Inglewood. Mr. Olson had an unassuming, likeable disposition, and was a member of a well-known Egmont Village family. In. March, 1914, he was appointed town clerk and held that position until his, death, he being a capable and conscientious officer. In 1916 he enlisted and went on active servico in the Great War, returning in March, 1919. Mr. Olson took a prominent part in the formation of the Inglewood Returned Soldiers’ Association. He was keen-i ly interested in all forms of sport, being; an ardent golfer and bowler, and secretary of the bowling club for several, years. Mr. Olson was also particularly-well-known in. Masonic circles, in 1914 being Past Master of Lodge Moa, No. 1 ., 110, and for some time secretary, and at the time of his death, treasurer. As a mark of respect the Inglewood golf links will be closed on Saturday afternoon.
