EDUCATION CONTROL
CONFERENCE. OF- BOARDS. Advice of a proposal to hold a conference of education boards immediately after the second part of the report of the Select Committee on Education is available was received .by the Auckland Education Board this week from the secretary of the Education Boards’ Association. This proposal was favoured in a letter received from the Taranaki Education Board, which recommended that boards should arrange a conference with members of Parliament in their respective districts. It was decided to approve of these proposals, and delegates were appointed to attend a conference of boards. The action of the board in protesting against any attempt to centralise the control of education in Wellington was approved in letters received from several school committees -in the Auckland education district. A motion opposing the further centralisation of the control of education in Wellington was passed at a meeting of the Vauxhall school committee.
