FARM TRAINING FOR BOYS
A DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE. (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, East Night. Last year the Government decided to inaugurate a scheme for the training of New° Zealand hoys in farm work on similar lines to that in respect of English public school boys. The annual report of the Immigration Department states that various organisations have been circularised, but so far the response from lads leaving school and desirous of. taking situations on farms lias been very poor. “With a view to stimulating the flow of applications./’ the report states, “publicity has been given to-the scheme, but unless applications are made by lads leaving school the scheme cannot prosper, as the demand by farmers ioi such trainees cannot be met.”
