THREAT FROM COMMUNISTS
.MUCH ALARM AT HANKOW. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Shanghai, Aug. 0. In view of the, alarming state created by the Communists at Hupeh and the consequent threat for the safety of foreigners at Hankow the admiral comnianding the Yangtse has requested the dispatch of a detachment of Green Howards to Hankow to-night. Dispatches from Hankow say that Chinese troops are arriving for the purpose of maintaining order. The city authorities are adopting stern measures to discourage an uprising and have beheaded six Communists in the streets. The Reds are reported to be slowly advancing upon Kiukiang.
