“DUMPING OF FARM, MACHINERY.'” SOME SHOPS WORK HALF TIME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, August 7, According to the secretary of the Auckland Engineers’ Union there are 180 members of the union out of work, in addition some engineering shops are working half time, their hands being employed in alternate weeks. Over 100 men are affected by this scheme and their wages averaged £2 !te. 6d. The secretary declared . that in • the last few months there had been considerable dumping-of farm machinery in New Zealand. He also complained that the Public Works Department had gone to America for top dressing machinery, which could have been manufactured in the Dominion at a lower price. '
