CYCLING AT WAITARA
promising senior rider. The Waitara Cycle. Club held the third of a series of four road races yesterday, tho junior race being to Tikorangi school and back, a distance of about ten miles, and the senior race being to Onaero factory and back, a distance of about 14 miles. The fields were affected somewhat by the weather and those who took part had had enough at the finishing post after facing, a gruelling south wind on the return journey. There were four starters in each race and following are the results: — Juniors: R. Anderson (50see) 1, time 26min 3L 2-ssec; G. Topless (scr) 2, 25min 45 2-ssec; G. Tnffery (scr) 3, yo min. A Chittenden also started but did not complete tho journey. Seniors: J. Cooney (2min) 1, time 41 min 54sec; E. Oliver (30sec) 2,41 min 54 l-ssec; W. Hicks (SOsec) 3,41 mm 54 2-ssec; J. Wigg (scr) 4,41 min 55sec. The four riders came over the M.aitara bridge into the town abreast and it was one of the best finishes for many a long day. Cooney won by a wheel and there was only about half a wheel between the other three. Cooney, who has been riding only a short time, should become a good rider.
