The larger yarding of fat cattie caused a slight depression in values at the Burnside sale, when the first few races were offered to-day, out towaid the close prices firmed up to last week s level. In the fat sheep section there was a dull sale, but prices remained for the most part unchanged. A poor entry of lambs met with an indifferent sale. Pigs met with a good demand. There were 244 head of fat cattle, comprising; mostly good quality sorts, with a large proportion of turnip cattle ■ in excellent condition. Owing to the heavier entry values at the outset were fully 30s. to £2 below hist week's price level, but as the sale progressed values firmed considerably until they were equal to those offering at last sale. Extra prime heavy bullocks made to £23 17s. Cd.; prime heavy to £l9 and £2l 10s.; prime to £LS; and lighter sorts from £l3 to £l-5. Extra prime heifers made to £l6; prime cows to £l4 2b. -5d., and light sorts from £> 10s. to £ll. There was only a small entry ot store cattle, cows and heifers being in short supply and steers little better. There was a slack demand with no great alteration in values. Only 1-123 head of fat sheep found their way into the sale compared with over 3-500 last week. The sale was unpromising from the start, suggesting that some butchers must have been holding over supplies irom last week s heavy pennings. The quality was fair, the entry including some nice well-con-ditioned wethers and good useful ewes. There was the usual percentage of lighter sorts. The demand was slack and there was little variation from last week’s va.lues. Prime wethers were worth from 30s. to 365.; mediums to 295., and light from 21s. to 255. Extra prime heavy owes made from 235. to 275.; medium from 15s. to 18s.; and light sorts from Ils. to 14s. There was a small entry of 240 fat lambs of fair quality, Exporters took anything showing quality at schedule rates. A very short entry of fat pigs met with a keen demand and values can be quoted as -sb. per head better than those ruling at last week’s sale. JOHNSONVILLE VALUES. At the Johnsonville sale on Wednesday a full yarding of all classes of stock was offered, the quality of the sheep and cattle being above the average. Good quality bullocks met with a keen demand at prices from 10s. to 15s. in advance of last week’s rates. The greater part of the sheep yarding comprised, wethers, chiefly heavyweight and good quality sheep, which met with a ready sale; prices for wethers were on a par with last week’s rates. Ewes were penned in smaller numbers than usual, but were keenly sought after at prices showing an. advance of Is. to Is. fid. 4>er head. Lambs sold freely at late rates. A consignment of vealers met With good demand, at last week’s rates. (Prices ranged as follow: —-Cattles
