The Hauturu sailed from Onehunga at 3 p.m. yesterday with 140 tons of cargo for New Plymouth, She is duo to-day and will return to Onehunga in the afternoon. (Northern Steamship Co.). The John arrived from Lyttelton and Wellington nt noon yesterday and later proceeded to Port Waikato. (Hooker Bros.). The Karepo, with 500 tons of coal from Westport, is due at New Plymouth about August 13. (U.S.S. Co.). The Progress loaded at Dunedin on Monday for New Plymouth, where she is due next Monday, via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington. (Hooker Bros.) The Himatangi left Timaru on Monday for New Plymouth, where she is due probably to-morrow, via Wellington and Wanganui. (Hooker Bros.). The Opihi left Timaru on Tuesday for New Plymouth, where she is due on ■ on Saturday, via usual ports. (U.S.S. Co.) The- Kanna loads 360 tons: at Greymouth for New Plymouth, where she is d'lie on Saturday. Returning to Westport the vessel loads 500 tons of coal for New Plymouth, later proceeding to Auckland. (U.S.S. Co.) POOLTA LEFT ‘ BRISBANE. . The Poolta left Brisbane on' Friday for Grafton, Port Stephens and Newcastle to load for 'Wellington, New Plymouth, Lyttelton and Bluff. MAMILIUS TO LOAD. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer .Mamilius is scheduled to reach Bluff from Australia en August 25 to commence loading in New Zealand for London,. Avonmouth, Liverpool and. Glasgow. Her loading ports, are Bluff, Port Chalmers, Timaru, Lyteltpn, New) Plymouth, Wanganui and Wellington. She is to be dispatched from Wellington for London, via Montevideo,: on September 16. FAST NORWEGIAN MOTOR-SHIP. The new Diesel motor-ship Thermopylae arrived at Sydney recently on her maiden voyage from European ports. The Thermopylae was built by Messrs. Burmeister and Wain, Copenhagen, to the order of Mr. Wilh, Wilhelmsen, Oslo. She has been built to comply with the requirements of the highest class in Lloyd's Register, and is 460 ft. in length by 60ft. in breadth, by 42ft. Ilin, in depth. Iler cargo carrying capacity is 9700 tons dead-weight, and she is equipped for the rapid loading and discharging of cargo. Her propelling machinery has been constructed by Messrs. Burmeister and Wain, and consists of two main Diesel motors, evolving a total of 7700 h.p. and designed to drive, the ves- j sei at 17 knots wi.-m fully loaded. MOREA TO GO FISHING. ; j The sale is reported for £30,00 of the P. and O. liner Morea, a vessel well known in Australian waters before the war. She has been purchased by Japanese buyers for use, it is. understood, in the fishing industry. The Morea, which was commandeered as a troopship during the war, has been engaged on the China run since the armistice. She is a vessel of 10,954 tons gross, lias a cruising speed of about 18J knots, and was built at Glasgow in 1908. It is stated that the P. and O. Company has plans for the replacement of at least another of its older ships as soon as t-he two new 21,000-ton steamers for the Australian trade —the Strathnavcn and the Strathaird —now building—are placed in commission. OREPUKI FOR OVERHAUL. The Anchor Company’s steamer Orcpuki which has been laid up at Nelson for some time for overhaul, is expected to arrive at Wellington to-morrow, and will go on the patent slip for inspection. PORT OF LONDON. , ~jDuring the week ended June 20, 1214 vessels, representing 1,095,474 net registered tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 667 vessels (921,176 net registered tons) were to and from colonial and foreign ports and 547 vessels (174,298 net registered tons) were engaged in coastwise trade. The Tilbury passenger landing stage was used by seven vessels, nearly 1400 passengers and their baggage being embarked and disembarked. During the same week no less than 15 vessels arrived with meat cargoes. fen were from Australia and New Zealand, the Ballarat, Port Napier, Port Hobart, Ruapehu, Ulysses, Kia Ora, Port Auckland, Mahia, Jervis Bay, and lonic, and five from South America, the Avelona Star, Highland Hope, Viking Star, Gaelic Star and Coracero. Together they brought approximately 707,000 carcases of lamb and mutton, 100,000 quarters of beef, a considerable quantity of pork and over 80,000 packages of sundries. SHIPPING AT WELLINGTON. Shipping was again delayed at Wellington on Tuesday by rain, causing the departure of several big vessels in port to be postponed. The Swedish motor-ship Mirrabooka was to leave there yesterday for Bluff and "Australia. The A. and A. Line chartered steamer City of Khartoum was to leave yesterday for Lyttelton to continue discharge of her New York cargo, and the C. and D. Line steamer Port Bowen will not leave today for Lyttelton for further discharge of Liverpool cargo.
